New Requirements For Construction Workers

By HTown Lowdown

If you work in construction or own a construction business, big changes are coming your way.  NV Assembly Bill 148 was passed into law just over 2 months ago and will now require every construction worker in Nevada to become certified in the OSHA-10 hour training course.  Supervisors and foreman will be required to take the OSHA-30 training course.

The bill states that existing workers must become certified and that new hires must become certified within 15 days of hire.

This may leave some people scrambling, but luckily help is out there.

“I am an authorized trainer and teach the 10 and 30 hour OSHA construction standards courses,” says Kyle Walton, owner of Henderson Safety Consulting.

Having worked in construction for 10 years himself, Walton knows the importance of safety.

“I have been hurt on the job because of the unsafe practices of someone I worked with,” says Walton.  “I’m happy to see more regulations passed to keep people on their toes.”

Nevada has had 25 construction-related fatalities lately.

“Most accidents can be prevented,” says Walton.  “People need to take responsibility for their actions and choose the safe route of action.”

Kyle Walton can be reached at 565-2656 to schedule OSHA trainings.  Group rates are also available.
