Most local breweries got their partying in last Wednesday (Cinco de Mayo), so this weekend is a little quieter. But the weather is nice and there are plenty of new brews out there, so maybe pay a taproom a visit and relax.

News & Events

Saint Arnold is co-sponsoring four free concerts through August. The first features Sweet Crude and Ancient Cat Society and will take place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Market Square Park in Downtown Houston. Folks will be “let in” at 6 p.m. For more, go here.

Beer Releases

City Acre is ready to open the cap on Quadratonic, a 15-percent ABV beer made with estate grapes, fermented with three yeasts, finished on cherrywood-smoked apricots, and stored for 15 months. This one is made for the end of a good night. It was supposed to come out last Saturday, but rain postponed the event to this Saturday.

Brash has a new one: Simple Jack is a New England IPA at 8.3-percent ABV. It’s available now at the brewery.

You can still get a four-pack of Ingenious’s new release Fruit Madness Mangonada, a 9-percent imperial sour ale smoothie with mango, lime, chamoy, and Tajín. It’s $30 per four-pack and available here.

Two new beers at Urban South HTX: There’s Space Skates TIPA, a triple IPA, and Spilled Skates, a fruited sour with strawberry, watermelon, and coconut (the idea is to make a tiger’s blood beer). Urban South is also releasing some seltzers this weekend, including a Sprite Float (Sprite, cherry, ice cream). All are available at the Sawyer Yards brewery and taproom

New beer alert at Astral: Sunship is a West Coast IPA at 8.1-percent ABV brewed with Strata, Columbus, Comet, and Cascade hops. Get it now at the brewery up on Shepherd Drive in Garden Oaks.

At Saloon Door, get bourbon-barrel-aged vanilla wee heavy. This big beer was released Thursday, so you should still be able to get some from the taps in Webster.

It’s time for a gose at No Label. Ginger Ninja is a citrus ginger gose. Get it at the Katy brewery starting Sunday.

New Magnolia has two new beers in the German wheat category: Hopfenweisse, a hoppy, 5-percent ABV hefeweizen with UK Fuggles hops in the batch and Lotus after the fact. Also, there’s Weizenbock, a 7.8-percent ABV dark hefeweizen. Both are available now in the Heights.

On Wednesday, B-52 released a Mexican lager called Cerveza. It has a little salt and lime in it and comes in at 5.2-percent ABV. It’s available now at the Conroe brewery
