The final fifth of One Fifth’s journey continues to be a wacky ride through whatever Underbelly Hospitality wants to do. Starting June 8, it’ll be a pop-up for soon-to-open Downtown restaurant Georgia James Tavern.
Yup, Chris Shepherd’s ambitious five-restaurants-in-five-years concept in Montrose will end its Southern Comfort phase on June 5. After a few days to transition, Georgia James Tavern will open and serve dishes like ribeye and club sandwiches for three weeks. The idea is to test items and give Georgia James Tavern chef de cuisine Matt Coburn the opportunity to settle in with the menu.
After June 26, One Fifth will then become … whatever the heck Shepherd and chef Nick Fine want to be next.
“One Fifth isn’t going quietly into the night,” said Fine, in a press release. “We want to go out having as much fun and learning as much as possible with the remaining time we have left.”
One Fifth, the Georgia James Tavern version, will continue to serve happy-hour specials from 4–6:30 p.m. daily. The Downtown Georgia James Tavern will open in the summer.
