Cinnaholic, a popular vegan bakery known for its gooey cinnamon rolls and other creative desserts, will soon debut its first location in Houston.
A representative for the chain tells Eater that the outpost at 5161 San Felipe Street, Suite 180, is set to make its debut sometime this summer, which means that vegan cinnamon roll enthusiasts won’t have to make a lengthy drive for their icing-drenched fix. Currently, the chain operates two outposts of Cinnaholic in the Houston suburbs — one in Pearland, and another in Cypress — along with bakeries in Texas cities like El Paso and the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
Fans of the ABC investor show Shark Tank may recognize Cinnaholic’s wares. In 2014, the chain’s co-founders appeared on the show and accepted a deal from investor Robert Herjavec that would expand the company by shipping its cinnamon rolls nationwide, only to later change their minds and decide to “focus on expanding our storefronts,” according to a statement on the Cinnaholic website.
“After much thought and discussion, we decided to go in a different direction,” the site reads. “Robert and his team were extremely cooperative and pleasant to work with despite our declining their original offer.”
For the unfamiliar, Cinnaholic boasts a menu of seriously decadent treats, ranging from customizable cinnamon rolls that can be topped with fresh fruit, cookie crumbles, and icings in flavors like creme brulee, chai, and marshmallow. There’s also edible cookie dough, chewy cookies, and signature rolls like the Tropical Bliss, topped with raspberry icing, blueberries, coconut, and bananas.
Expect Cinnaholic to make its debut in Uptown Houston sometime in “late summer or early fall,” according to the chain’s rep. Stay tuned for an official opening date.
