Despite no Big rodeo, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has been holding most of its events as small, in-person events all spring. Last Saturday featured the 2021 Rodeo Uncorked! Champion Wine Auction & Dinner at NRG Center, and let’s cut to the chase: 50 Cent won.

Apparently one of Houston’s newest residents, Curtis Jackson of G Unit, of “21 Questions,” “P.I.M.P.,” and other nearly 20-year-old hits, took home the Reserve Grand Champion Best of Show title for his Le Chemin Du Roi Brut, Champagne AOC, NV.

It won $160,000 in the auction, the proceeds of which fund scholarships for Texas students.

“When they told me I won, I almost fainted. I was really excited,” said Jackson (probably wearing a cowboy hat) in a press release. “I am very proud of this.”

To be fair, it was Reserve Grand Champion. Taking home Grand Champion Best of Show (the absolute top wine) was Alexander Valley Vineyards CYRUS. That wine was purchased for $200,000 in auction—maybe this is the wine 50 Cent failed to get in auction. Tough break, man.

A new ice cream spot has emerged at LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch. Sweet and Boozy is a family run establishment—devised by their now-teenage children—that offers classic ice cream flavors, popsicles, and plenty more treats.

Look for Thundershakes, such as Oh My Oreo (cookies and cream ice cream, Oreo ice cream sandwich, Oreo cookies whipped cream, chocolate drizzle). Also, find stuffed waffles, boozy ice cream delights (thus the name), and something called Grandpa Al’s Famous Kitchen Sink. This has eight scoops of ice cream, a brownie, a cupcake, a donut, cotton candy, bananas, blueberries, strawberries, graham cracker crumbs, chocolate chips, peanut butter M&Ms, sprinkles, Pop Rocks, toasted marshmallows, Fluff, whipped cream, and a bunch of sauces. Hungry?

Sweet & Boozy is at 2643 Commercial Center Blvd., #320. It’s open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday-Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, and 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Visit sweetnboozy.com.
