At Bakfish Brewing Co. in Pearland, the term “brew” describes more than beer. The hotspot for group and family-friendly dining recently expanded its selections to include freshly roasted beans and creative coffee drinks. “We figured out we were standing around drinking coffee and beer most of the day, so the inspiration really came from our staff wanting to be fully caffeinated at the brewery!” says co-founder Kris Szecsy. The decision has so far proven wise, as patrons clamor for a menu that spans traditional offerings alongside creative twists.
Opt for hot or iced espresso-based drinks such as lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos, cortados, flat whites and Americanos, plus a range of nitro, cold brew, drip and pour-over options. Bakfish sources a variety of beans from an importer in Houston, but focuses on Ethiopian and Colombian. The Cereal Milk Latte, which incorporates milk flavored by breakfast cereals, is particularly intriguing. Other flavors include mocha, vanilla and miel (honey), all with housemade syrups. Espresso-based drinks start at $3 for a double shot of espresso and go up to $4.25 for lattes. Brewed coffee starts at $2.50 and top out at $5 for nitro. Housemade flavor shots are 50 cents each, and milk substitutions are $1 each for almond and oat milk, and $1.50 for cereal milk. There is also hot chocolate for $3 and chai lattes for $4.50. The latte flight is $12.
Espresso-based drinks are served daily until 5 p.m., and drip and pour-overs available until closing. Choose from 8-, 12-, and 16-ounce sizes.
Grab a breakfast pastry to complement your brew (coffee or beer for that matter). Choose from a selection of baked goods prepared and delivered at 4 a.m. daily from Kraftsmen Baking in the Heights. You can’t go wrong, but the ham and cheese danish is particularly popular, says Kris.

There are splurge-worthy insulated tumblers, too. “We really went all out with our tumbler selection to make sure it set the tone for the craftsmanship we are striving for with this new addition to our brand,” explained Szecsy. “These are lined with stainless steel and a splash guard. Due to the high quality, these tumblers are sure to be the favorite in your to-go coffee cupboard. They can be purchased for $30 right out of the BAKFISH Taproom.”
Once the roaster is installed onsite, guests will also be able to purchase bags of whole and ground coffee beans, including the special BAKFISH Blend. In addition: beers made with coffee are coming! Watch for the announcements on social media including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
